Whether behind the camera, guiding photographers on tour, or mentoring aspiring creatives, my passion remains the same, to inspire others to see the world differently and create photographs that are both technically accomplished and artistically meaningful.
My journey into photography began in 2003 during a workshop in Kamieskroon with internationally acclaimed photographer Freeman Patterson. His ability to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary completely changed the way I saw the world, and from that moment, photography became far more than a passion, it became a way of life.
Over the years, I have continued to refine both my artistic vision and technical skills through workshops, specialist training and photographic journeys across South Africa and the world. Today, I have the privilege of sharing that knowledge by leading carefully curated photography tours and workshops, helping photographers build confidence, develop their creative eye and experience remarkable destinations through their cameras.
While my work encompasses travel, architecture, nature and fine art photography, stage and performance photography has become one of my greatest areas of expertise. I have spent many years photographing live productions at the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town, working with organisations such as Cape Town Opera, UCT Opera and Cape Town City Ballet. Capturing the emotion, artistry and energy of a live performance is something I find both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
Photography has also given me the opportunity to give back to the photographic community. I have managed the Education and Development portfolio for the Cape Town Photographic Society (CTPS), regularly judge photographic submissions at clubs and national salons and sit on the PSSA honours judging panel.
I hold the following honours : APSSA (vers) , DPSSA (vers) and FPSSA from the Photographic Society of South Africa (PSSA) as well as an EFIAP from the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique.
